You must be a practicing healthcare practitioner to be eligible for an observership. There are other criteria in order to meet the eligibility requirements. Observerships are not recognized training and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is not involved in facilitating these arrangements. Arrangements for observerships can be made through the Hamilton teaching hospitals: Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and St. Joseph’s Healthcare (SJH) Hamilton.
Please refer to the observership policy (PDF) at McMaster University for more information.
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology does not support observerships for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. This experience is only offered as an elective.
For undergraduate students interested in job shadowing, visit the visit the HHS site for more info. Please note, these opportunities are not available in obstetrics and gynecology.
