50th Anniversary Celebration

Thank you to all who attended our 50th-anniversary celebration! It was a great success.

A note from Dr. Leyland

Dear Colleagues,

I want to very sincerely thank each and every one who contributed so immensely to the success of our recent 50th department of OB/Gyn celebration. From all accounts, everyone in attendance had a wonderful time.

The history of the department lecture was very well received, Pat, and it was such a great recounting of a history of excellence at McMaster.

The “great debate” in the afternoon was also very entertaining with Dr. Blake and Dr. Bates defending the fantastic (but indefensible) residency training of the past and Dr. Scattolon and Dr. Luketic enumerating the benefits of modern training through simulation and information technology, as well as shorter work hours!

A big thank you to Dr. O’Byrne for coming to the meet and great on Friday night at the University Club and for making the important announcement on Saturday of the inaugural F.L. Johnson endowed chair for obstetrics and gynecology, here at McMaster University.

Thank you all for contributing and for participating in this important celebration,

Nick Leyland

Dear Nick and Bev,
Once again congratulations and sincere thanks for all your work. For those who attended it was very meaningful.

Sincere thanks,
Jennifer Blake (Residency Class of 1982, past faculty member)

Thank you Dr. Leyland and all others that made the recent 50 year celebration of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department such a rewarding experience. It was so good to get reacquainted with those still there, who were my teachers during my residency back in the 1970’s. The historical presentation by Dr. Patrick Mohide and the memorial slides presented at the luncheon on Saturday were a reminder of the great heritage that existed and still exists in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Thank you very much,

Dr. Lorne Hanson (Residency Class of 1975)
